Colours of Culture Project

Photography like most art forms brings out different things in people, it makes us think, question, feel, debate, cry, laugh and educate. We live in a culturally diverse country and within that, are many cultural community organisations, including dance and performance groups who keep their culture alive through traditional dance and costume.

My first personal photographic project is called ‘Colours of Culture’. A series of portraits which showcase and embrace different cultures of men and women living in Australia who preserve their culture by performing in traditional costume. The colours are beautifully vibrant and the dance movements are exquisitely executed. Working on this ongoing project is not only educational but emotional as I see and feel the pride that my subjects have for their culture and by keeping it alive keeps it alive for the next generation.
